Our occupational Therapist is Janita Dingwall. Her specific role is to support individuals to participate as fully as possible in their daily “Occupations”. Occupations are defined as the activities you do during the day that “occupy” your time; things you need to do and want to do. Childhood Occupations fit into the three categories of Self-care, Play & leisure, and School.
Janita supports our students to participate as fully as possible in their daily occupations within the school and at home.
This model of service provision is to work with the Universal/Targeted/Specialist approach with the Targeted approach being the main focus of the OT provision and area of highest input. The focus on the Targeted provision is to try and meet the needs of as many students and classes as possible and to work alongside staff and parents so they can continue with the input without the OT being present.
